Plexus Call from the Door of No Return, Goree-Dakar

From May 12 to June 9 of 2008, at the House of the Slaves of Goree, within the DakArtOff of the Biennale of Contemporary African Art of Dakar, it was held the art exhibition Erosion of the Door of No Return, with the Patronage of the Ministry of Culture and of the Embassy of Italy in Senegal. The completed documentation on mapping the advancement of the sea erosion in front to the Door of No Return photographed by Plexus International, from 1989 to 2008, was handed over to the Mayor of Goree and to the Director-General of the Cultural Heritage Division of the Ministry of Culture in charge for the safeguard of it. All reprodutions of the digital art works that contribuited to the travelling international event Erosions and Renaissance show were exposed, with the Plexus historical photo documentation. It was issued the Call of the Door of No Return to Safeguard the Natural and Cultural Heritage of the Humankind, requesting the development of a specific plan to safeguard the House of the Slaves from the advancement of the sea erosion. As a symbolic conclusion of the historical voyage of the Plexus art slaves ship, the first working draft of the Plexus book Art Slavery Made in the 80's was given in hommage to the Minister of Culture of Senegal Mame Birane Diouf. It was made by Omar Seck, Sandro Dernini, Assane MBaye, Seni MBaye, Youssouph Traorè, Amadou Koly Niang, Fatoumata Coulibaly, Amewa Sall, Awa Mbaye and Alain Coulibaly.
